Workshops

The Canopy

The Canopy workshop is about the fun of figuring out what’s next after retiring in midlife

This workshop is for the creative person who is eager to get started on the next stage of life. Instead of waiting for your wonderful retirement to start, you’re ready to dive in and begin looking for, and creating, a fulfilling path.

The workshop is tailored to you: you needs and where you are in the process of figuring out life after finishing a career. You can work on the steps at your own pace, coming every month or at random times, whatever works best for you. You can pick up where you left off, and move forward to build a new path that is important and exciting for you.

It takes time to figure out a path that’s meaningful to you. The Canopy workshop allows you to begin the process, and continue the progress. You can attend once, or as many times as you need.

Midlife Is a Wonderful Opportunity

You have complete agency over this next part of your life. It’s not governed by the expectations or restrictions of career, family or society that you may have had when you were in your twenties. Midlife is your time to develop a path that truly reflects your passions and curiosity – something that’s uniquely fulfilling for you.

But what? You want this for yourself, but you may be unclear about the details, or even the big picture. That’s where this workshop comes in.

The Canopy Workshop

You leave the workshop with:

  • a new understanding of the overall direction that you want to go and why it’s important to you
  • a personal, concrete, plan for your next step in the process
  • some general homework for all the participants
  • a feeling of camaraderie with others going through the same process of changing in midlife

Relief from not knowing where you’re going, excitement about your new possibilities, eagerness to get started, and direction with a specific place to start, all under one Canopy.

The Workshop Format

Initially, we put retirement in Midlife in context and outline some of the challenges and joys. There are opportunities to share your experiences with others, if you choose, and listen to others who are in the same boat. (Doesn’t it feel better when you know you’re not alone in all this?)

Then, using a variety of hands-on activities, we work through topics such as clarifying your values, identifying areas of your life that you’d like to grow and assessing the type of life balance that works for you. The activities are geared to your specific needs and where you are in figuring out your next chapter. You have the opportunity to self-reflect, journal and share your thoughts (if you wish). Everyone will also be given homework suggestions that will enhance their progress.

You leave the workshop with more clarity about where you are, where you want to go, and the next step to get you there.

If this approach is intriguing to you, and you’re eager to begin developing your fulfilling next chapter, sign up for your spot in a Canopy workshop. I promise you a welcoming and safe space to learn and grow.
