Choosing Solutions And Hope

What you focus on, is what you will find. I’m a believer in focusing on solutions rather than problems. I see the problems but I tend to look around for ways to address them rather than look for more problems. Mindset has a lot to do with whether we find solutions or just unearth the continuous supply of problems around us. I choose to look for solutions. Even small solutions to big problems can make a significant difference over time with enough persistence and support from others.*

Hope Is A Choice

It’s the difference between choosing despair or hope. It is a choice. There is ample reason to focus only on despair. The daily news assaults us with a continuous supply of woe. It’s designed to cause us to feel reactive to it and come back for more. But, I can choose to ingest the painful news, or not. I have choice.

Addressing World Problems

I’m not advocating ignorance of important world issues.  I find that even though I avoid reading the daily news, it reaches me eventually. There is no need to seek it out to stay informed. The larger issues don’t change so quickly that I can’t keep up (climate change, gun violence, the wealth gap, racism, access to clean water…). I have time to read books about them and look at small ways I could help. I’m not using my energy to react to crisis after crisis: all the problems. I am channelling my energy into finding the small answers.

When I choose to look for solutions, I’m choosing hope.
