How much time do you spend on the mundane stuff in life and how much on things that only you can create? Clearing out the garage and washing the windows are big projects that need to be done. They will take up a lot of my time. But should I consider them worthy goals?

Only So Much Time
Time is our most precious resource. I can’t make more time. Clearing and cleaning projects can be quite rewarding when they’re completed but I often find they take a lot of motivation for me to get started. It may be because they matter in the short term but many years from now, no one will know or care if my garage was as neat as a pin.

Anyone Can Do That
Also, these projects don’t specifically require me to do them to make them successful. I can pay someone to wash my windows. It doesn’t need to be done by me.
Creativity Is All You

However, your creativity and mine is unique. Only you can write, paint, design, or develop a recipe like you. It’s the only thing that no one else can do the way you do it, with your life experience and talents. That’s amazing!
Time Well Spent

Spending time on creative pursuits can seem frivolous at first. But when you consider it will be something that will have an impact on the future in a way that cleaner windows can never aspire to, creative projects become paramount. Looking back at your life, you, and those who knew you, will remember the things you created.
Everyone’s Creative

Everyone is creative. I know, you think I’m kidding, but I’m not. Science tells us that, “creativity can be acquired and honed at any age or experience level.”* Creativity is more than painting, music and art. It’s anything where you’ve added your own personal stamp. I’m putting aside the cleaning and tidying for a while to focus on some creative projects today. I think it’s a good use of my time.
Here are some examples that people don’t often think of:
- assembling a robot
- devising a workable algorithm
- developing a computer programme*
- photography
- acting, directing
- devising new ways of solving problems,
- garden design
- developing recipes

Definitely agree that you can be creative in whatever your passion is. And that is where we should be spending our time.
